Altogether 20 undergraduate students from FHTM started their experiential learning program in service and hospitality in Florida, USA this week.
The program provides participating students with the enriching opportunities of taking an intensive course in Leadership in Hospitality Management at the Florida State University (FSU)’s DedmanSchool of Hospitality, followed by a six-month experiential learning at the Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando. While studying on the FSU campus, the students benefit from the experience of living and studying at a U.S. university and from interacting with FSU faculty and students. They also begin an Applied Intercultural Communication course, which will continue throughout their stay in the U.S. The Disney International College training section will provide them with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of hospitality and tourism and to apply the principles they have studied in home classes.
This year’s program witnesses the 10th anniversary of FHTM’s fruitful cooperation with the program’s joint organizer FSU and Disney International College. More than 300 students from FHTM have participated at the program and their career development has benefited from the program in the passing decade. The success of the program also highlights the faculty’s persistent commitments to experiential learning in its tourism and hospitality education.
