On April 11th, 2020, Professor Bing Pan from the University of Pennsylvania was invited to deliver a research seminar talk for the FHTM master and PhD students. The topics were “Theory Construction and Tourism Big Data Research”. Due to the COVID-19, this research seminar talk was conducted in the Zoom.
In the seminar talk, Professor Bing Pan shared his unique perspective on tourism theory by talking about four different aspects including the well-being of urban Chinese residents, alma mater nostalgia tourism, tourism forecasting with big data and tourism market segmentation. Besides, Professor Bing Pan also explained how to generate a new theoretical framework in research and how to analyze research.
The atmosphere of the lecture was lively and pleasant. In the final Q and A session, students raised questions and Professor Bing Pan answered in detail and with patience. Students learned new knowledge and also understood more clearly about the theory construction and tourism big data research.
