Associate Professor Zhang Yang of Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management led around 50 students of Master of International Tourism and Hospitality and Master of Hotel Management and Master of Hotel Management, to visit the White Swan Hotel in Guangzhou. This visit enabled students to experience the specific operation and management mechanism of each department of the hotel on the spot, better combine the theoretical knowledge with practice, and constantly improve their knowledge level and professional skills. During the visit, the representative of Guangzhou White Swan Hotel, introduced the establishment process of White Swan Hotel in detail. As the first Chinese-foreign contractual joint ventures five-star hotel in China, opened in 1983, White Swan Hotel has its own unique management philosophy. From branding, customer behavior research, brand standards, and service philosophy, White Swan has always adhered to the WISE model, namely warm (W), intimate (I), intelligent (S), and extreme (E), to create better service for customers. In addition, the representative also introduced the central air conditioning control system of the White Swan Hotel and explained how the sophisticated control system of the hotel has always kept the energy costs at the leading level in the industry and the profitability of the hotel was not affected even during the epidemic.
At the same time, students visited the history exhibition hall of the White Swan Hotel. White Swan Hotel has received 150 heads of state and royal family members of more than 40 countries in its 30 years of operation, including the Queen of Britain, former American President Mr. Nixon, Mr. George Bush, German Chancellor Mr. Kohl, and other heads of state and important foreign guests of more than 100 countries. Through this visit, students had a comprehensive understanding of the development process, daily operation, and management of star-rated hotels, and gained a lot. The visit came to a successful end.
