On November 12, 2021, the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) at Macau University of Science and Technology held the fifth lecture in the “Seminars by Hotel Managers” Series. This time Ms. Xian Xu was the speaker and her online lecture was "What Matters Most to Start Your Own Business in Service Industry?" Ms. Xian Xu is a M.U.S.T. Alumni, and a serial entrepreneur with multiple restaurant & hair salon brands. Ms. Xu Xian studied at MUST, Eastern Michigan University, and obtained an MBA from Oxford University. In 2016, she was listed on the "Forbes 30 Under 30". Ms. Xu Xian has created several service brands and has extensive experience in service management and operation. The seminar was sponsored by the Macau Foundation.
Ms. Xu Gave a Lecture
Ms. Xu briefly introduced her education and entrepreneurial experience. She then focused on the necessary factors in the early stage of entrepreneurship, from the four perspectives of human resources, site selection, operational efficiency, and legal compliance, and explained to the students the issues that need to be considered and paid attention to in the early stage of entrepreneurship in the service industry. Ms. Xu also used her own personal experience in the process of entrepreneurship to explain and help students understand the real challenges and opportunities faced by entrepreneurship in the service industry. Ms. Xu has actively interacted with the students throughout the course.
After the lecture, Ms. Xu answered questions raised by students, and also put forward some suggestions for the students who are inspired to start a business. This lecture also brought a successful end to the " Seminars by Hotel Managers " series of FHTM for this semester.
