Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (F.H.T.M.) of Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.) held the first Session of this semester’s Distinguished Scholar Forum of Hospitality and Tourism on October 14th, 2022. Dr. Tam Chi Kuong, President of Macao Cultural Heritage Reinventing Studies Association was invited as the guest speaker and provided an insightful lecture entitled “Cultural Heritage Conservation in Macau: Issues and Policies”. Professor Ben K. Goh, Dean of the F.H.T.M. of M.U.S.T., Associate Professor Zhang Yang, Program Director of F.H.T.M, Professor Timothy Lee and more than 100 teachers and students attended the seminar.

Dean Ben K. Goh delivered a speech and welcomed Dr. Tam Chi Kuong. Dean Ben K. Goh highly praised Macao Cultural Heritage Reinventing Studies Association for its great efforts in research and creation of Macao’s cultural heritage, which played an important role in passing on and promoting Macao's history and culture. He hoped that students would cherish this rare opportunity and learn more about Macao's cultural heritage through this lecture. Students should spread awareness of heritage conservation and expand their academic research horizons.

Starting with the application process and protection policy of Macao's cultural heritage, Dr. Tam Chi Kuong introduced the series of work carried out by the Macao SAR Government in promoting the protection and preservation of Macao’s cultural heritage. Dr. Tam gave a brief of cultural heritage conservation work through the case studies. Dr. Tam also encouraged the students to engage in research and creative works on cultural heritage, to participate in the development of cultural and creative industries, and to contribute to the protection and promotion of cultural heritage.
