The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (F.H.T.M.) of Macau University of Science and Technology organized a Culinary Demonstration Workshop by Chef Huang Huiming on October 21st, 2022. Chef Huang was invited to demonstrate Hunan Cuisine and was warmly welcome by Prof. Ben K. Goh, Dean of F.H.T.M., Dr. Brenda Yang, Program Director, Dr. Yang Kaihan, Dr. Gou Rui, Chef Mary Ote and Chef Yves Duron. The event attracted over 30 F.H.T.M. bachelor students and postgraduate students.

Prof. Ben K. Goh, gave a warm welcome speech to the guests and said M.U.S.T. has kept enriching the students’ learning and experiences and enhancing their professional skills through offering or holding all kinds of courses, master lectures and culinary workshops. The university expects that through these events students may have the opportunities to learn from top chefs.

Chef Huang Huiming Shared his experiences with Students
Chef Huang Huiming has focused on the operation, management and development of Hunan cuisine for 39 years. He is a national senior cooking technician, a senior registered celebrity chef of China, a famous Chinese Hunan cuisine master, a Chinese catering culture master, a Chinese Hunan cuisine culture master, and a senior national culinary examiner. He has served as a mentor for more than 1,000 Chinese chefs in well-known restaurants, as well as serving as a technical mentor to 68 catering chain companies in China. Chef Huang is committed to the research and promotion of local cuisine in southern Hunan, and has been awarded as one of the ten masters who has influenced Hunan cuisine in China.

At the sharing session, Chef Huang Huiming demonstrated his signature dishes including Sautéed Beef with Chill and Softshell Turtle with Chicken. The Culinary Demonstration Workshop enriched the students’ learning and experiences and enhanced their professional skills of Hunan Cuisine, which would certainly be a great treasure in their future careers.
