With the purpose of improving Cantonese proficiency of FHTM students and to provide them with an advantage in both internship and future career, the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) of Macau University of Science and Technology and FHTM Students Consultative Committee successfully held the first session of “Cantonese Corner” in O203 on November 8th, 2022. Dr. Vincent Cheng was invited as the main speaker of the first class “Cantonese Corner” with the assistance of FHTM administrative staffs and volunteers.

Dr. Vincent Cheng interspersed the linguistic points with daily conversations and encouraged students to communicate with him. The class bloomed with joy and good fellowship. After the course, students regarded it as a novel teaching approach, which not only met new friends in the process of language learning, but also could better adapt to the unique life in Macao. It has also laid a solid foundation for their future internship. All the participants are looking forward to the next “Cantonese Corner”.
