Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management of Macau University of Science and Technology Held the Third Session of this Semester’s Distinguished Scholar Forum of Hospitality and Tourism —— Hotspots and Trends in Hospitality Research

To celebrate the 23rd anniversary of Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.), the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (F.H.T.M.) of Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.) held the Third Session of this semester’s Distinguished Scholar Forum of Hospitality and Tourism on 27^th April, 2023. Dr. Su Yen-Lun, Professor of the Department of Hotel and Restaurant Management of Pingtung University of Science and Technology was invited as the guest speaker and provided an insightful lecture entitled “Hotspots and Trends in Hospitality Research”. Professor Ben K. Goh, Dean of F.H.T.M., Program Director Dr. Zhang Yang, Program Director Dr. Yang Chieh Yun, Professor Timothy Lee, Associate Professor Pai Chen Kuo, and postgraduate students attended the lecture.

Dean Ben K. Goh, on behalf of the faculty and students of F.H.T.M., warmly welcomed Professor Su Yen-Lun and sincerely thanked him for delivering the lecture to the students. Dean Ben K. Goh stated that over the past 23 years, M.U.S.T. has made remarkable progress. The F.H.T.M. will also continue to provide high-quality tourism management, hotel management and catering management courses for undergraduates and postgraduates. Dean Ben K. Goh recognized Professor Su's research achievements in hospitality and hoped that students could cherish this rare opportunity to expand their research directions and improve their research capabilities.

Professor Su Yen-Lun first reviewed the principles and concepts of sustainable tourism development, and specifically proposed destination sustainable development strategies and actions. Through cases studies, Professor Su analyzed in detail the contributions and existing problems of current catering and tourism enterprises towards sustainable tourism. Finally, Professor Su proposed the current hot topics in catering and tourism research and encouraged students to focus on research topics that are centered around environmental and social sustainability. In the Q&A session, students actively spoke up and raised their ideas and confusions about catering and tourism research. Professor Su patiently and specifically answered their questions, bringing the lecture to a successful conclusion.
