Macau University of Science and Technology Hosted the 3rd GLOSITH Global Congress of Special Interest Tourism & Hospitality

Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) successfully organized the 3rd GLOSITH Global Congress of Special Interest Tourism & Hospitality from November 10th to 12th, 2023. The conference brought together industry leaders, experts, and scholars from around the world to discuss the latest trends, innovations, and challenges in the field of specialized tourism and hospitality.

Goh, Dean of the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management; Professor Lin Guangzhi, Director of Institute for Social and Cultural Research; Professor Timothy Lee, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management; Ms. Amy Chu, Head of Secretariat; Ms. Flora Kok, Director of the Human Resources Department; Ms. Eliza Iek, Head of Academic Registry; Mr. Feng Junguo, Administrative Officer of the School of Graduate Studies; Dr. Valencia Chang, Director (Development & Clinical) of Medical Sciences Division (MSD); Associate Professor Wong Weng Chou, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management; Associate Professor Zhang Yang, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management, as well as over 300 industry leaders, experts, and scholars from around the world.

Welcome Speech by Professor Pang Chuan, Vice President of Macau University of Science and Technology

Professor Pang Chuan, Vice President of Macau University of Science and Technology, delivered the welcome speech, expressing his honor to host the 3rd GLOSITH Global Congress of Special Interest Tourism & Hospitality at MUST. Over the past two decades, MUST has made tremendous progress and has become a renowned institution for high-quality education, cutting-edge research and innovation, and contributions to the socio-economic development. The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management at MUST is dedicated to cultivating and developing talent in the hotel industry through collaborations with renowned enterprises and academic institutions. Vice President Pang encouraged participants to actively engage in exchanging perspectives, ideas, and experiences from various aspects of tourism, and he hoped that attendees would be inspired and motivated to tackle the challenges faced by sustainable tourism.

Exciting Cultural Performances

The conference featured Chair Professor Cathy Hsu from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Editor-in-Chief of Tourism Management, Associate Professor Mark Hampton from the University of Kent in the United Kingdom, and Professor Sara Dolnicar the University of Queensland, Australia, Editor-in-Chief of Annals of Tourism Research as keynote speakers.

In addition to the keynote speeches, the conference also included two days of concurrent academic sessions and roundtable forums. An unforgettable networking experience was provided to participants with a Gala Dinner held at the Sheraton Grand Macao Hotel the following evening. The distinguished guests attending the Gala Dinner included Mr. Ao Pak Loi, Committee of University Council of Macau University of Science and Technology; Professor Aliana Leong, Associate Vice President of Macau University of Science and Technology; Chair Professor Cathy Hsu, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Professor Hak-Seon Kim, Dean of International Affairs of Kyungsung University. This conference served as a global academic event for scholars and outstanding researchers to engage in in-depth exchanges. It would also contribute to promoting Macau as a world-class leisure and tourism center and a hub for multicultural exchange and cooperation. The conference aimed to explore the numerous challenges and opportunities brought by the tourism industry and create a better world for the current and future generations.
