In order to expand students’ research horizons and enrich their understanding of the development trends of the tourism and MICE industry, Macau University of Science and Technology Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (F.H.T.M.) Assistant Dean Dr. Zhang Yang and Assistant Professor Dr. Xia Menglong led 18 graduate and undergraduate students to visit Shenzhen for experiential learning from November 3 to 5. This event was partially funded by the Education Fund of the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region.
This experiential learning activity is rich in content. F.H.T.M. students visited the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center, Shenzhen OCT Vision Inc., OCT-LOFT and Shenzhen Mission Hills Golf Resort. Through field trips, students have a deeper understanding of the overall planning, operation model and development condition of these tourism enterprises.

Led by teachers and students from Shenzhen Tourism College of Jinan University, F.H.T.M. students also visited the Jinan University campus and teaching and research facilities. Then, Vice Dean of Shenzhen Tourism College of Jinan University Li Zhou gave a themed lecture on the impact of the digital development of cultural tourism industry on talent cultivation and the sustainable development of leisure resorts. This visit not only enriched the students’ knowledge in tourism and MICE industry, but also strengthened the exchanges between teachers and students of the two universities.
