Professor Edith Szivas was formerly the Director of Surrey University’s PhD program in hospitality and tourism, which is one of the most highly regarded programs of this kind in the world. She also was a professor at Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management before forming her own company to work as a consultant for the UNWTO, especially with regard to their TedQual accreditation program. At the invitation of Dean Hitchcock, Professor Edith Szivas paid a visit to FHTM from Oct.7th to 12th, 2013. Not only was she able to provide guidance to the Faculty’s PhD students but she was also able to help the Dean review our PhD program. She gave a public lecture that examined Chinese inbound tourism in Dubai, which had more than 250 students and staff in attendance and which led to a very good question and answer session.
