A forum, hosted by Macau University of Science and Technology, and co-hosted by Tertiary Education Services Office was held at the Macau University of Science and Technology on Oct. 18, 2017. The Forum selected a theme on Institutional Enhancement through Institutional Accreditation to examine how internationalization efforts in higher education institutions can be enhanced through such international quality assurance practices. Participants from higher educational institutions from Macau as well as from mainland China, including Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Shandong University, had the opportunity to listen to presentations by Rowena Pelik (QAA/UK) and Mr. Rob Fearnside (HKCAAVQ) of how quality assurance from both international as well as regional levels would help enhance the internationalization efforts for institutions of higher education. Four institutions of higher education from Macau (Macau University of Science and Technology, City University of Macau, Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau, and Institute for Tourism Studies) also shared their stories of QA journey undertaken with QA agencies from other region and countries. The processes that they went through provide valuable experiences to further enhance the quality in their work. The Tertiary Education Services Office has been playing an instrumental role of designing, and supporting QA framework and implementation for institutions of higher education in Macau, and such efforts will greatly sustain and further support efforts by institutions of higher education in Macau to continuously improve the quality of educational services provided for the students.
