Professor Jin Yinan’s talk has attracted an audience of over 400 students and members of local societies. He walked the audience through the history of China from the past to the present, making known how generations of Chinese fought hard to find development paths that suit China, built on China’s own civilization and built up confidence in its own development theories, systems, paths and cultures. In the meantime, with the advancement of technology, China today is able to produce its own military equipment, and its military impact has been rising steadily and grabbing world attention. In addition, Professor Jin also made a point on the China-US trade, noting that while China seeks for a constructive China-US relation, it also needs to make adequate preparations to face potential challenges in the future; it will need to pass many tests before it is able to secure a place in the international community.

Professor Jin took several well-known Chinese entrepreneurs for example, by showing how they construct their paths of success, he encouraged MUST students to understand that failures are necessary in all roads to success, and what is most amazing is the time in between success and failure. The lecture hall was fully packed, and many students raised questions to exchange views with Professor Jin.

Shi Shuo, a student who attended the lecture, expressed excitement after hearing the talk. He learned that it has been extremely difficult for China to achieve what it has achieved today, and generations of Chinese had endured hardships and endeavored to make possible the peaceful and prosperous living environment, which we enjoy today; we must prepare ourselves for potential threats and dangers on our way forward, we must improve our studies through hard work, we must not believe because we have seen it, but learn to believe because we have seen it, and we must contribute our share to the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Another student named Liu Di Chuan said he was greatly touched by Professor Jin’s talk. We do not exactly live in an age of peace, but are only protected against war by our motherland. Facing the science and technology blockades and economic sanctions, we learned that a strong country cannot do without innovations and perseverance of the youths of the country; in order to achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, we must innovate our thinking, enhance our studies, and make contributions to our motherland.

Mr. Wu, a teacher who attended the talk, remarked that Professor Jin has given a greatly inspiring talk. His in-depth analysis of the changes of events in the past and in today’s world warns us of what is really important; we must remember the history, and reinforce our science and technology innovation, national defense, and economic development, which are critical for the national prosperity and rejuvenation.
