Macau University of Science and Technology held the Scholarship and Grant Awards Presentation Ceremony at Library building N101 on November 20, 2018. At the Ceremony, 23 representatives from the scholarship-providing institutions gave out altogether 30 scholarships, grants and progress prizes to 246 excellent students of the University.

President Liu Liang addressed the Ceremony
President Liu Liang gave a speech at the Ceremony. He pointed out that “Prosperity of the youth projects the prosperity of the nation; strengths of the youth determine the strengths of the nation.” Remarkable youths represent the most vigorous most innovative group of a society; the future of the nation and the future of Macao will need the continuous hard work of young generations. The President expressed gratitude toward the 23 scholarship-providing institutions and companies, and noted that more than contributing a mere scholarship, they are, as a matter of fact, contributing to the growth of the youth and to the development of the great cause of education. Such contributions will be forever borne in the mind of M.U.S.T. teachers and students and will drive them to continue to overcome all obstacles and pursue excellence.
Du Xiaojun, student of School of Business, gave a speech on behalf of the scholarship winners. She mentioned that university is an important time in one’s life, as well as an important place where one can pursue dreams and achieve self-improvement. At M.U.S.T., there are knowledgeable teachers, abundant learning resources, and rigorous fulfilling courses that help students to lay down a solid theoretical foundation and train critical thinking. Not to mention the vast extracurricular opportunities provided by the University, for which she is very grateful, that raise the comprehensive capabilities of the students by way of real practices; the diverse exchange activities at home and abroad also give students opportunities to broaden horizons. She and her peers are determined to persist in their studies through hard work and perseverance, take up the responsibilities bestowed on the youth, and exert their strengths to make contributions to the society.
The Award Presentation Ceremony for Institutional Scholarships is installed to reward students who achieve excellent academic grades. Representatives of the scholarship-providing institutions give out prizes to scholarship winners as a token of recognition and affirmation, providing incentives for students to seek continuous progress in scholarship and in the meantime stimulate other students to strive harder for greater outcomes. Also conferred at the Ceremony were various awards of the University, including Outstanding Cultural and Academic Award, Outstanding Community Service Award, Outstanding Sports Award, and Student Handbook Cover Design Competition Award, in hope of motivating students to achieve all-round development on top of attainment of professional knowledge.
This year has also been the first year for the Luso International Banking Limited, the Tai Fung Bank Limited, and the Golden Burger (Macau) Charity Association to provide scholarships for students of M.U.S.T. Hence, President Liu Liang conferred Certificates of Appreciation to Mr. Jiao Yun Di, Executive Director and General Manager of Luso International Banking Limited, Mr. Ng Ka Fai, General Manager of Personal Banking Department of Tai Fung Bank Limited, and Ms. Rita Ao, Representative of Golden Burger (Macau) Charity Association, as a token of appreciation to the three institutions for their support to Macau University of Science and Technology.
Following the award-presentation ceremony, the guests and the award-winning students took photos and attended a cocktail party held at the Seasons Training Restaurant of the University.
