Completion of the Integrated Talent Development Program II, a program jointly developed by Sands China and Macau University of Science and Technology

Participants of Sands China-Integrated Talent Development Program II have successfully completed all training courses in May 2022, and a ceremony was held at The Londoner, Macau on June 8, 2022. Certificates of completion were distributed to those who completed the program. 

Debuting in 2019, the program was custom-tailored for Sands China’s management professionals and was developed in conjunction with the Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.). This cohort is the second batch to graduate from the program (ITDP II), following the success of the first cohort of students (ITDP I).

The Sands China-Integrated Talent Development Program II (ITDP II) was initiated by Sands China's hotel department and implemented in cooperation with Macau University of Science and Technology. Nearly 40 management professionals from various departments in Sands China, such as facilities, food and beverage, and hotel, completed the program. The program aimed to help them develop a deeper understanding of shared responsibility and empower them to contribute to the company’s success through their actions on a daily basis. Participants develop innovative management strategies, which they then implement at work at the end of the program. The process requires them to engage in a number of cross-departmental projects that help them obtain operational insight across various business divisions within an integrated resort environment. It also provides participants fresh insights to traditional leadership practices, allowing them to take from each concept what they want, challenge the status quo and have the opportunity to test their ideas within a safe environment.

The courses were taught by outstanding scholars and business elites from various field. Taking the latest achievements of modern management theory as the breakthrough point, the courses adopts customized classroom teaching, live case discussions, open-ended tutoring and other training and teaching methods to stimulate students' spirit of exploring the unknown. The main purpose and core of teaching is to integrate theory with practice and cultivate practical talents. At the same time, it aims to improve the management quality of management members and cultivate future industry leaders.

At the ceremony, Mr. Sean McCreery, Senior Vice President of Sands China Resort Operations, and Prof. Chuan Pang, Vice President and Dean of the School of Graduate Studies of Macau University of Science and Technology, grant the certificates of completion to the students. In this program, most students have highly commended on the courses. One of the students said: “This is a great leadership program. I initially thought it would be very academic, but every module inspired us to have a new way of thinking and to develop a forward-thinking mindset. Getting to know more of the company’s leaders and talent was also a key takeaway and benefit of the program for me.”

Guests of honour attended at the ceremony included: Chan Chon U, Macao Labour Affairs Bureau Deputy Director; Wong Vai Ian, Macao Labour Affairs Bureau Vocational Training Department Skills Training Division Head; Yang Yi, Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau Special Administration Region Economic Affairs Department Deputy Director; Dr. Wilfred Wong, President and Executive Director of Sands China Ltd.; Mr. Sean McCreery, Senior Vice President of Resort Operations of Sands China Ltd., Ms. Hongyan Wen, Senior Vice President of Human Resources of Sands China Ltd., and the representatives from M.U.S.T., Prof. Chuan Pang, Vice President and Dean of School of Graduate Studies; Prof. Goh Kok Beng, Dean of Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management, and Assistant Professor Rachel Ip from the School of Business, etc.

Looking ahead, Macau University of Science and Technology will continue to cultivate talents of management for the Macau SAR government and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
