Hosted by the Academy of Music, Macau University of Science and Technology, Miranda Lecture & Workshop Series – Music, Mind, Machines will take place from April 29 to May 6, 2026 at MUST. The series features Prof. Eduardo Reck Miranda, composer and Professor of Computer Music at the University of Plymouth, UK, and Director of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Computer Music Research (ICCMR).
Eduardo Reck Miranda is a composer and Professor of Computer Music at the University of Plymouth, UK, where he is director of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Computer Music Research (ICCMR). He is a world leader in computer music and unconventional computing. He pioneered the application of AI to music in the 1990s and created the field of brain-computer music interfacing (BCMI). His work explores human-machine co-creation, reframing creativity as a collaboration between human technique and algorithmic response. Currently at the forefront of quantum computing in music, the arts and the humanities, Prof Miranda has published the first books on the topic and release Qubism, the first music album composed entirely using quantum computers. He has composed several symphonies and an opera and has shared the stage with renowned ensembles such as the BBC Concert Orchestra, BBC Singers and London Sinfonietta.
