MUST Students Won Multiple Awards in the 21st English Festival

The 21st English Festival, hosted by the English Learning Center of Shantou University, took place from December 6 to 8 at Shantou University. The English Festival aims to promote English as a language for international communication and to facilitate exchanges among university teachers and students in the Asia-Pacific region. Each year, Shantou University invites renowned universities from across Asia to participate in this prestigious event.

This year, Lei Kai Cheong, the Coordinator of the General English Program at the University International College, was invited to lead students in participating in this event. The main activities of the English Festival included the speech contest, a debate competition, and a singing competition. 

In the speech contest, ten finalists, all award-winning contestants from their respective universities, competed in prepared speeches, impromptu speeches, and Q&A sessions. Zhang Yixiao, a student from the University International College representing our university, finally stood out with fluent English, an elegant stage presence, quick thinking, and strong organizational skills, winning the second place. In the debate competition, Li Moyi, from the School of Business and Luo Yuguan from the Faculty of Law represented our university. After a fierce debate, Luo Yuguan won the Best Speaker Award. In the singing competition, Luo Kaizhong from the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management represented our university. Competing at near-professional level, he won the third prize with his perfect singing skills and standard pronunciation.
