Cultivating Interdisciplinary Legal Talent for the AI Era: MUST Launches Master of Artificial Intelligence Law Program

On June 3, 2026, the newly established Master of Artificial Intelligence Law Program at the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) received official registration and approval from the Macao SAR government. The program is scheduled to commence in the fall of the 2026/2027 academic year. Online applications will be available until July 6, 2026.

The establishment of AI governance and the rule of law has become a critical element in the modernization of national and regional governance. The Macao SAR places significant emphasis on the regulated development of the digital economy and artificial intelligence, with the cultivation of interdisciplinary legal professionals being essential for fostering the healthy and orderly advancement of AI.

Since its founding, MUST has consistently prioritized the development of legal studies and cross-border legal research, building a strong academic foundation and educational framework. To further advance innovative discipline development and support AI governance and the rule of law in the Macao SAR, the Greater Bay Area, and nationwide, the university has leveraged its educational strengths to launch the Master of Artificial Intelligence Law program. This initiative aims to produce high-level interdisciplinary professionals who possess both legal expertise and technological insight in the realm of AI governance and the rule of law.

The introduction of this program will significantly bolster MUST’s capabilities in digital rule of law, pioneering governance research, and international academic collaborations.

Established in 2000, the Faculty of Law is one of the four founding faculties of MUST. It offers a comprehensive array of academic programs at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels, distinguished by its emphasis on teaching and research that reflect "diverse cultural backgrounds" and "cross-border legal content."
