Faculty of Medicine Celebrates Graduation of Macao’s Second Cohort of Homegrown Doctors
The Faculty of Medicine of Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) proudly celebrated the graduation of the second cohort of students from its Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme on 3rd June 2026, marking another important milestone in the development of medical education in Macao.

Established in 2019 as Macao’s first medical school, the Faculty of Medicine offers the territory’s only MBBS programme and is committed to nurturing high-quality medical professionals to serve Macao and the Greater Bay Area. Last year marked the graduation of the historic first cohort of homegrown doctors.
To celebrate the achievements of the graduating class, a Gala Dinner bringing together graduates, faculty members, distinguished guests, and healthcare leaders was held to celebrate this significant occasion. The event was attended by a distinguished group of guests, including Chair Professor Zhu Jiankang, President of MUST; Vice-Presidents Dr Tong Ka Lok and Chair Professor Paul Tam Kwong Hang; Dr. Kuok Cheong U, Chairman of the Medical Professional Committee of Macau; Dr. Tsang Tam Fai, Acting Director of Conde S. Januário Hospital; Professor Liu Zhengyin, Director of the Peking Union Medical College Hospital Macau Medical Centre of the Macau Union Hospital Complex; Dr. Iong Ka Kuen, Director of Macau Yinkui Hospital; Ms. Leong Yuk Wa, Consultant of the Macau Federation of Trade Unions; and Mr. Si Hou, Chief Executive Officer of the Macau Henry Fok Foundation, among other honoured guests.

During the Gala Dinner, Professor Manson Fok, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, extended his warmest congratulations to the graduates and encouraged them to uphold the highest standards of medical ethics and professionalism as they embark on their medical careers. He emphasised the importance of serving patients with compassion, safeguarding lives through professional excellence, and carrying forward the spirit of medicine. He also encouraged graduates to contribute to Macao’s healthcare system and to play a bridging role between Eastern and Western medical practices.

Speaking on behalf of the graduating class, Dr. Anna Ho Un I expressed her gratitude to the faculty, mentors, and clinical teachers for their guidance and support throughout her medical education. Reflecting on her journey, she shared the invaluable experiences gained through academic study, research activities, and clinical training, which have prepared her and her classmates for the responsibilities of becoming physicians.

As the second cohort of homegrown doctors graduates from Macao’s only MBBS programme, the Faculty of Medicine looks forward to seeing its graduates contribute to healthcare, medical research, and patient care both locally and internationally. Their success represents another important step in strengthening Macao’s healthcare workforce and advancing the future of medicine in the region.
