MUST Chair Professor Paul Kwong-Hang Tam Attends the 4th Ruijin Hospital International Symposium on Organ Transplantation and Delivers Special Lecture

On June 6, 2026, the 4th Ruijin Hospital International Symposium on Organ Transplantation was successfully held. Chair Professor Paul Kwong Hang Tam, Vice-President of Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), was invited to delivered a special lecture titled “Liver Regenerative Medicine” during the “International Master Forum” session.

The symposium addressed frontier areas including organ transplantation, hepatobiliary surgery, regenerative medicine, precision diagnosis and treatment, and clinical translation. Experts and scholars from universities, hospitals, and research institutions in China and abroad gathered to discuss the latest advances, key challenges, and future directions. Topics included adult and pediatric liver transplantation, minimally invasive hepatobiliary surgery, liver regenerative medicine, precision therapy, infection prevention and control, xenotransplantation, and translational research.

In his lecture, Professor Tam outlined research progress and clinical translation prospects of liver regenerative medicine, highlighting applications in liver disease repair, functional reconstruction, and support for organ transplantation. His presentation showcased MUST’s ongoing development in precision regenerative medicine, stem cell and tissue repair, and translational research.

Professor Tam’s participation further strengthened academic collaboration between MUST and leading mainland hospitals and experts in organ transplantation. It also laid a foundation for future cross-regional collaboration in liver disease, regenerative medicine, and translational medicine. Looking ahead, MUST will continue to leverage its research platforms to integrate basic research with clinical needs, translational applications, and advancing biomedical innovation and translation applications in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
