From August 10 to 18, 2026, the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) at Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) successfully hosted a 9-day "Singapore Institute of Technology Summer Program." Centered on the theme of "Applied Business Analytics," the program attracted 25 outstanding students from the Singapore Institute of Technology. Combining cutting-edge academic seminars, corporate field visits, and local cultural experiences, the course received high praise and enthusiasm from all participants.

On the morning of August 10, the opening ceremony took place in O205 at MUST. In her opening address, Dr. Feng Yan, Program Director of FHTM, highlighted that this summer program marks a significant milestone in deepening cooperation between the two institutions, expressing her anticipation for further expanding academic exchanges and student interactions in the future. Following the ceremony, participants were guided by FHTM student representative Wang Wenlong on a tour of the MUST History and Achievements Exhibition Hall and various campus facilities, gaining deep insights into MUST’s development history and academic achievements. That evening, the Faculty hosted a welcome dinner to greet the visiting faculty and students, creating a warm atmosphere that fostered cross-cultural communication and friendship.

Focusing on core topics such as business data applications and decision-making optimization, the course featured guest lecturer Associate Professor Li Yan from the School of Management at China University of Mining and Technology-Beijing. The curriculum integrated theoretical lectures, case studies, and group discussions, guiding students to apply modern business analytics tools to real-world scenarios in the hospitality and tourism industries, thereby effectively boosting their data-driven thinking and practical problem-solving capabilities.

To connect theory with practice, FHTM organized enriching corporate and cultural field visits. Students first visited MGM Macau and the Poly MGM Museum to view the exhibition "Silk Roads Beyond Borders." The visit allowed participants to experience the modern creative expression of traditional Chinese culture while gaining firsthand insight into the business operations of a premier hospitality and tourism enterprise. Subsequently, students embarked on a guided tour of Macao’s World Heritage sites, visiting iconic historical landmarks such as the Ruins of St. Paul’s, St. Dominic’s Church, and Mount Fortress. This experience deepened their appreciation of Macao's unique 400-year history of East-meets-West cultural integration, inspiring multidimensional thinking on cultural heritage preservation, revitalization, and tourism development.

At the closing ceremony, Assistant Dean Dr. Wong Weng Chou presented completion certificates to all participants on behalf of the Faculty, congratulating them on the successful completion of the course and praising their outstanding performance. Students shared that the nine-day program not only enriched their professional knowledge but also allowed them to experience the unique charm of Macao and forge invaluable international friendships.

The successful organization of this summer course has broadened the international professional horizons of the participating students and demonstrated FHTM's strength in internationalized teaching and industry-academia cooperation, laying a solid foundation for long-term friendly collaboration between the two institutions.
