2026/2027 Academic Year Orientation for Pre-university Students

On the afternoon of August 31th, the 2026/2027 academic year orientation for Pre-university students was held in N211. This grand annual meeting of the university leaders, teachers, staff and new students aims to prepare the new Pre-U students for the life and study in MUST. in the upcoming academic year and a smooth promotion to the undergraduate program.

Guests and speakers attending the orientation include Vice President Professor PANG Chuan, Head of Academic Affairs Office and Officer of the Academic Office of the Department of General Education Ms. Amy CHU, Coordinator of Pre-university Programme Assistant Professor QI Juan Juan, Assistant Administrative Officer Mr. Ray HO, as well as mentor for Pre-university students Assistant Professor ZHENG Ying Feng, Lecturer XING Chen, Lecturer WANG Zhi Qiang, Lecturer CAO Le Yi and Lecturer LI Jia Wei. Ms. Qi hosted the orientation and invited Vice President PANG to address the grand meeting. Professor PANG first encouraged students to learn from the Gold Medallists of the President’s Medallist for academic year 2025/2026. He encouraged students to make good use of library resources, read widely, and cultivate diligent thinking; he also urged them to actively participate in physical exercise to build a strong and healthy body. He further expressed his hope that everyone would be kind and warm-hearted individuals, respect differences, and be gentle with themselves. Finally, he wished all students a fulfilling and joyful year at MUST, and encouraged them to build their own future with their own hands.

Then, as a tradition, this orientation invited two excellent student representatives who once studied in Pre-U program to share with these new students their own experiences and tips as to the life in Macao and study in MUST. Fresh graduate ZHANG Yixin advises new students to actively engage in class, make good use of the library and collaborate with peers on revision, and try to think from the examiner's perspective to anticipate key exam points—so as to effectively boost their GPA and enjoy a fulfilling and rewarding year. While ZHENG Haotian encourages new students to make good use of MUST's resources, set clear goals, strive for a high GPA, and actively participate in activities, so as to build a solid foundation for entering their desired major and for their future university life.

Subsequently, Ms. Qi introduced the whole Pre-U program framework, duties of the Department of General Education Office. Lastly, Lecturer LI Jia Wei, as a representative of mentors for Pre-university students introduced the university mentor system.

At 16:00 the orientation ended with heated discussion and interaction between the speakers and the new students. Department of General Education is determined to work harder and provide more elective courses and activities popular among the young students, so that we can better facilitate the Pre-U students to have not only a smooth first year study but also a splendid further academic study life in their dream faculties in MUST.
