On September 11, 2026, the 20th National College Students Cultural Tourism and MICE Competition (Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Regional Round) was held at City University of Macau. Four teams from the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management of Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) won two First Prizes, one Second Prize and one Third Prize across the Tourism Category and the MICE and Hotel Group. The competition is co-hosted by the Commercial Sub-Council of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the Commercial Industry Chamber of Commerce of the China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC), and the China Commercial Economics Society. It covers cultural tourism, MICE, hospitality, smart cultural tourism and other areas.

Winning Team in the Tourism Category
In the Tourism Category, two teams guided by Associate Professor Wen Jun and PhD student Wang Jiawei won the First and Third Prizes. The First Prize went to Team “Cold Frontier New Journey” (Su Yifan, Jiang Zengsiyi, Yu Shengyi and Xie Xin) for “Breaking the Cold-Pole Deadlock: Genhe Ice-and-Snow Cultural Tourism Reshaping Plan,” which proposes building a forest-based extreme-cold destination centered on “China’s Cold Pole, forest ecology and reindeer-herding culture” while expanding Greater Bay Area source markets. The Third Prize went to Team “No Travel, No Go” (Chen Yeting, Jiao Zitong, Wu Zhuoying and Lu Xinyu) for “Hidden in Qingcheng, Starting Anew: Qingcheng Mountain Wellness Tourism Plan,” which draws on Taoist culture, World Cultural Heritage and forest ecology to design tiered wellness products from one-day experiences to five-day retreats.

In the MICE and Hotel Group, two teams guided by Assistant Professor Pan Yu and Assistant Dean Professor Wong Weng Chou won the First and Second Prizes. Team “Ao Chuang Ji Yuan” (Ji Ziheng, Yao Qian, Lu Wujie, Ma Yuxin and Yu Yanyi) won the First Prize for the “Hengqin-Macao International Rehabilitation Robotics and Smart Health and Wellness Expo,” focusing on rehabilitation robotics and smart health and wellness and using Hengqin-Macao cooperation as its backdrop to explore MICE planning that integrates technology and health and wellness. Team PRAGMA (Cheng Xiyuan, Lin Jiahui, Chen Guanhan and Huang Yuxuan from the Faculty of Business) won the Second Prize for “Shared Roots in Care, Warmth Across the Greater Bay Area — Cross-border Health and Wellness for Livelihood Development Exhibition,” incorporating Greater Bay Area health and wellness needs into exhibition planning and focusing on cross-border health and wellness and livelihood development.
The awards demonstrate MUST faculty and students’ achievements in cultural tourism innovation, destination planning, MICE planning and industry practice, and reflect the value of interdisciplinary collaboration. The Faculty will continue to encourage students to use competitions as a platform to combine theory with practice and nurture more outstanding talent for the cultural tourism, MICE and health and wellness industries. The teams will continue to advance teaching, research and practice in cultural tourism, wellness tourism, digital cultural tourism, sustainable destinations and MICE development.
