The carnival between teachers and students, hosted by the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management of Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.), was held to celebrate the 18th Anniversary of M.U.S.T.. The carnival, kicked off on the basketball court in front of the Block G on 3 p.m. of March 14th, was to strengthen the relationship between teachers and students as well as commemorate school’s 18th birthday. The Vice Dean of FHTM, Ms. Amy Chu and other ten teachers were invited to attend this carnival, and they enjoyed a glorious time with the students there. Each group, organized by one teacher and four students has shown their professional knowledge and demonstrated their grand appearances for championship.
Following the speech by the Vice Dean of FHTM, Ms. Amy Chu, the competition formally began. The competition was consisting of going through hula hoops, stepping on mats and passing plates cooperatively. In addition to testing team spirits, strategies and the coordination between the players, these three games challenged contestants’ professional knowledge, such as the skills of catering service, which was the key to the last round of the competition. After fierce competitions, the group leading by Dr. Jose Wong got the champion ultimately. Dr. Feng Yan’s team won the second prize, Mr. Daniel and Dr. Xu Ye’s teams won the third prize. Afterwards the carnival officially came to an end.
The combination of professional knowledge and games is an ideal way of associating entertainment with study too. Moreover, the competition is not for expertise but for closer relationship between teachers and students by finishing team work collectively. The series of celebration activities for MUST anniversary are still in progress warmly.
