Pharmaceutical and food regulatory science is an emerging interdisciplinary field at the forefront of global research over the past decade. Its core objective is to develop new tools, standards, and methods to support regulatory decision-making for pharmaceuticals and food. In April 2019, the National Medical Products Administration officially launched the China Drug Regulatory Science Action Plan, and Macau also established its Pharmaceutical Regulatory Authority. To further advance the discipline and meet societal needs, the University has leveraged its strengths to offer a PhD program in Pharmaceutical and Food Administration. This program aims to cultivate high-level professionals in pharmaceutical and food management, further enhancing the University’s and Macau’s higher education institutions’ academic progress and international exchanges in related fields.

The School of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medicine, relies on platforms such as the State Key Laboratory of Mechanism and Quality of Chinese Medicine, and the Laboratory of Drug Discovery from Natural Resources and Industrialization. It has become a higher education institution in the Macao SAR capable of integrated undergraduate, master's, and doctoral training in pharmacy. The School is dedicated to cultivating clinical pharmacists and pharmacy professionals, promoting rational clinical medication use, improving hospital drug management, and advancing high-end medical research as well as the development of the pharmaceutical industry.
