Francisco Luís Murteira Nabo, Doctor of Law honoris causa


Mr. Francisco Luís Murteira Nabo is Portuguese and studied in Portugal and Spain.  He served in the Portuguese government for years. From the beginning of the 1980s, he acted successively as the Portugal State Secretary of Transportation, the Minister of Portugal Social Infrastructure, the Chairman of Board of Directors of the Portugal Telecommunication Company, and he worked wholeheartedly for his beloved country.

Mr. Francisco Luís Murteira Nabo is also a citizen of Macao. From 1987, he served in the Macau Government’s Departments of Education, Health and Public Administration, and was later the Secretary of the Economic and Administrative Department in Macao. He was also the acting Governor of Macau. During his tenure of office, he was committed to optimizing the economic structure of Macau, enhancing its industrial development and exploring foreign trade. Without doubt, he has contributed remarkably to his second home – Macau – in terms of both its economic development and social stability.

He has been witness to, and guardian of, Sino-Portuguese friendship. Over the years, he has devoted himself to the achievement of close cooperation between Portugal, Macau and Mainland China. As president of the Portuguese Trade Association and chairman of the CCILC, he has been committed to the establishment of trading relationships between Portuguese-speaking countries and both Macau and mainland China. His devotion has strengthened remarkably the contacts and cooperation between all entrepreneurs in these locations, earning him wide acclaim in this regard.
