The FHTM hosted the Academic Seminar Series II on October 13, 2015 and welcomed Professor Chris Ryan at University of Waikato, New Zealand, and the editor of Tourism Management and Tourism Management Perspectives. The former journal is ranked one of the top research ones in the fields of hospitality and tourism. Professor Ryan has a wealth of knowledge of hospitality and tourism research and has over 200 refereed journal articles to his name. His presentation entitled Trends in Hospitality Research drew a lot of interest from our graduate students and faculty alike. It considers changes in the nature of hospitality research from four different perspectives, and suggests that research has gone through an evolutionary process in response to changes in the industry itself and the tools of analysis, and indeed the way in which researchers, particularly academic researchers, have responded to different pressures.
