On November 9, 2016, Dr. Markus Schuckert from the School of Hotel and Tourism Management (The Hong Kong Polytechnic University) has held two guest lectures for the Bachelor students of International Tourism Management Studies. Both one hour lectures, from 12:00-13:00 and 13:00-14:00 respectively, aimed at giving students an insight into Dr. Schuckert’s illustrious past in the aviation and hospitality industry.
In his first lecture, called “Aviation Services: Managing Aircraft Handling and Operations”, Dr. Schuckert built on his longstanding experience in the aviation industry to give students a practical insight into the aviation service delivery system. The students showed their interest in breaching into the aviation industry through employment-related questions. Similar enthusiasm was shown during his second lecture, entitled “Alpine Mountain Resorts – The Case of Andermatt Swiss Alps”. Dr. Schuckert made the case of a world-class resort that revitalized a sleepy Swiss mountain town: a project in which he was personally involved through research efforts. The students were excited and impressed by Dr. Schuckert’s long history with the tourism and hospitality sector and conveyed a feeling of inspiration for following his path in the aviation and resort industries.
