Housekeeping Skills Competition Final

To strengthen the professional knowledge and skills of our students, on April 25, 2018, the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) Students’ Union of MUST held their first Housekeeping Skills Competition. This competition was part of the MUST 18th Anniversary celebration events. Ms. Grace Chan, Assistant Vice President – Environmental Services, Housekeeping & Environmental Services of Galaxy Macau, Mr. Patrick Hung, Director of Housekeeping of Wynn Macau, Ms. Amy Chu, our Vice Dean (Administrative), Dr. Jose Wong, Program Director, Ms Brenda Yang, Program Director and Instructor Ms Lily Huang from FHTM were invited as guests, judges and trainers.
Ms. Amy Chu, Vice Dean (Administrative) of FHTM gave a welcome speech to all guests and contestants and encouraged those participating in the competition to do their best. The competition was divided into two sections - team and individual. After a brief review of the first round, the final race began. The five winning teams (each team consisting of four members) from the first round competed with each other and finally the best team was selected based on their display of professional housekeeping skills. The four members from the best team then competed with each other for the individual award. Finally, Chen Weirong, Jia Xin, Ye Xiuyan, and Liao Rongqin received the title of Best Team Award, while Chen Weirong received the title of Best Individual Award.
This competition not only tested the professionalism of the contestants, but also showcased their talent and practical skills, as well as gaining an experience of professional skills training.
