The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) of Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.) held the third Distinguished Scholar Forum of Hospitality and Tourism on November 9th, 2022, entitled “Research Direction of Hospitality in Post-Covid-19 Period”. Dr. Fevzi Okumus, the CFHLA Preeminent Chair Professor of the University of Central Florida’s Rosen College of Hospitality Management, was invited as the guest speaker to share his view on the topic. Prof. Ben K. Goh, Dean of FHTM, Program Director Dr. Zhang Yang, and more than 200 teachers and students attended the lecture via Zoom.

Prof. Ben K. Goh gave a warm welcome speech to Chair Professor Fevzi Okumus. He said M.U.S.T. has kept enriching the students’ professional knowledge and skills by holding all kinds of courses and master lectures. This is a good opportunity for teachers and students to expand their research interests and research directions. Prof. Ben K. Goh thanked Chair Professor Fevzi Okumus for giving the online lecture to teachers and students of the faculty. He hoped that students would cherish this rare opportunity and learn from the professor.

In this lecture, Chair Professor Fevzi Okumus introduced the current trends and developments in the hospitality and tourism industry. He encouraged students to do in-depth research and publish articles in top-tier journals as well as pay attention to popular research topics versus timely research topics. Students also need to search for current research topics and methods in other disciplines and focus on multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research. It is very important to develop and follow a clear research agenda and complete the research plan. In the final Q&A session, the students raised very thoughtful questions, which Chair Professor Fevzi Okumus answered patiently and meticulously.
