Mr Grant Bowie, CEO and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited, visited the Faculty of Hotel and Tourism Management on 1 November 2012. About 200 professors and students attended his talk on “Reinventing MGM” after the hotel property was rebranded MGM China Holdings Limited in 2010.
He explained that the logo of the golden walking lion above bold English letters spelling out “MGM” and the hotel’s name in Chinese characters is a powerful symbol of the global nature of the business plus a commitment to serving Chinese customers. Facing up to the challenge of intense competition, the MGM is determined to give positive experiences to its guests that will add richly to their collection of memories.
The brand mission of MGM is to “engage, entertain and inspire” its customers, internal and external. This mission can only be executed successfully with a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation. Hence the MGM never stops to “reinvent” the universal appeals of passion, romance, glamour and style through the design of facilities and delivery of entertainment, retail, and food and beverage services.
Dean of FHTM, Professor Michael Hitchcock, presented Mr Bowie with a crystal paperweight and flag of MUST to show the Faculty’s appreciation.
