The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) held the fifth lecture of “Seminars by Masters from Tourism Industry” on the 5th of May 2023 in D Hall. Mr. Han Xiao, Chairman of Zhuhai Da Heng Qin Pan- Tourism Development Co., Ltd was invited as the guest speaker and provided an insightful lecture entitled “Development and Operation of Micro Resort Destinations from Scratch”. During the speech, Mr. Han Xiao first introduced the characteristics and industry data of micro vacation to the students, explained its’ advantages and broad development prospects, pointed out that it still maintains a high growth trend in the post-epidemic era, and hoped that more outstanding talents would join to the micro vacation industry.
Mr. Han Xiao took Sumlodol as an example and described the foundation and operation of micro vacation from the four dimensions of planning and positioning, planning and design, construction management, and operation management. Sumlodol combines cultural tourism, nature, and research travel to build its core competitiveness. In terms of design, it comprehensively considers the overall layout, passenger flow carrying capacity, public supporting facilities, emergency facilities, etc., and achieves standardized operation and management. Sumlodol is committed to setting up different activities for different groups, strives to be flexible and changeable, and uses social media to achieve precise marketing and accomplish the unity of product and effect.

In the Q&A session, students asked questions enthusiastically, and Mr. Han Xiao answered them with patience. Through this lecture, students gained a deeper understanding of the emerging tourism model of micro vacation from the perspective of the tourism and hospitality industry, and big expectations for the new vitality that Sumlodol Hengqin Camping Town will bring to Hengqin's tourism industry.

Mr. Han Xiao, Chairman of Zhuhai Da Heng Qin Pan - Tourism Development Co., Ltd, has been actively participating in the development and advancement of Hengqin, Zhuhai since 2011. He has completed numerous cultural tourism industry projects in Hengqin. Sumlodol (Hengqin) is the most representative project. Those projects have made positive attempts and explorations to increase the scope of the camping micro-resort industry and promote the integration of the Guangdong and Macao cultural tourism industry.
