From August 25 to August 26, 2023, dean of the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Professor Ben K. Goh, and 33 faculty and staff members participated in retreat at Hengqin. Faculty and staff members from the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Macau University of Science and Technology visited China Red Sandalwood Museum (Hengqin) and Hengqin Planning and Construction Exhibition Hall. The aims were to understand the cultural essence of China Red Sandalwood and the development and future planning of Hengqin, as well as to go to Zhuhai Hengqin Sumlodol for taking the faculty meeting.

The faculty and staffs first visited the China Red Sandalwood Museum (Hengqin) to experience the precious Chinese culture up close and enhance their understanding of traditional China Red Sandalwood culture and art. Then, they together visited the Hengqin Planning and Construction Exhibition Hall and Zhuhai Hengqin Sumlodol to gain an in-depth understanding of Hengqin's positioning as a core city cluster in the Greater Bay Area, as well as its important role in promoting regional integration. This allowed them to explore the potential of Hengqin as a cultural tourism destination and gain inspiration for designing and promoting cross-border tourism products.
This retreat benefited the faculty and staff of the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Macau University of Science and Technology tremendously. Not only will it broaden professional perspectives, but also lay a solid foundation for cultivating high-quality hotel and tourism professionals in the future. The faculty will continue to strengthen exchange and cooperation with relevant institutions to jointly promote the development of cultural tourism industry in the Greater Bay Area.
