The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) held the second lecture of “Things Graduate Students MUST Know” on November 23 2023 in N317. The lecture invited senior tourism research scholars to share their first-hand experiences on the topic of “How to Discover Research Questions from Travel.” The guest speakers included Associate Professor Wong Weng Chou, Assistant Dean of FHTM, Associate Professor Prof. Pan Su Ying, Program Director of FHTM, Assistant Professor Dr. Feng Yan, Program Director of FHTM, Dr. Yang Chieh Yun, Program Director of FHTM, Assistant Professor Hong Fang, Associate Professor Pai Chen Kuo, Assistant Professor Zhu Yanni, Assistant Professor Liu Chao, and Assistant Professor Wang Shuo. Approximately 150 students from the FHTM and other faculty attended the lecture.
Assistant Dean Prof. Wong Weng Chou delivered the opening speech and expressed gratitude to Associate Professor Pai Chen Kuo for his efforts in organizing the lecture. He also presented souvenirs to the guests in attendance. During the lecture, the senior tourism research scholars shared how they found inspiration for research during their travels. They advised students that when they feel lost and directionless in choosing a research topic, they should consider taking a trip and perhaps gain insights from the experience.
Additionally, the guests answered students' research-related questions. Finally, a group photo was taken to commemorate the successful conclusion of the lecture.
