FHTM Successfully Held the Christmas Gala Dinner 2023

The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) of Macao University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.) successfully held the Christmas Gala Dinner 2023 on the evening of December 1, 2023, at the terrace of the second floor of Block O. Nearly 100 students from FHTM worked together to meticulously organize this unforgettable event, which welcomed from both internal and external guests. The three majors within BITM, BHM, and BFBM students showcased outstanding professional collaboration. Students majoring in BITM not only took charge of the overall design and planning of the banquet but also served as public relations hosts for the evening. Students majoring in BHM elegantly hosted the pre-dinner cocktail reception and provided banquet etiquette services. Meanwhile, students majoring in BFBM showcased their excellent culinary skills, adding brilliance to the dinner menu.

Guests attending this Gala Dinner included Professor Aliana Leong, Associate Vice-President of M.U.S.T.; Member of the Legislative Council of the Macao S.A.R., Mr. Leong Sun Io; Alumni of FHTM, Ms. Chan Sansan; SWH Import & Export Company representatives; Mr. Francis Tan, Vice-President of Learning and Talent Management of MGM; and Mr. Alfred Ng, Director of the Macao Services Division of Shun Tak China Travel Ship Management Limited. In addition, department heads of internship institutions with long-term cooperation, deans, directors, heads of administrative departments, faculty teachers, and administrative staff also joined as guests.

At the opening ceremony of the banquet, Professor Ben K. Goh, Dean of FHTM added a warm and grateful atmosphere to the entire event with his speech. He expressed gratitude to the guests present and thanked the organizers while praising the outstanding performance of the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management at M.U.S.T. in education and academia. He emphasized that the development of the faculty has brought together excellent talents from academia and the industry, driving the faculty’s success. He hoped that this banquet would serve as an important platform for students to apply their knowledge and showcase their talents. Lastly, Prime Minister Guo expressed gratitude to the alumni, sponsors, partners, as well as all the students and staff involved in the organization, for their collective witness to the future brilliant development of the faculty. During the souvenir presentation ceremony, Professor Ben K. Goh presented souvenirs to the Bank of China Macau, Star Chef Management School, Marko Coffee, Laurel Group, Classic Fine Foods, Angliss Macau Food Service Ltd., Gourmet House Macau Ltd., and SWH Import and Export Company Limited. They also took a group photo to commemorate the occasion.

Professor Ben K. Goh Delivered a Speech

At the colorful banquet, the meticulously planned programs, and the warm atmosphere of the gathering complemented each other. The FHTM family kicked off the event with a rendition of the song Santa Claus is Coming to Town. This was followed by a ballet solo performance of “Fairy Doll” by student Luo Sihang, and an erhu solo of “Fairy Dolls” by student Weng Yiwei. Four dishes were carefully designed and prepared by culinary arts students, and were a delight to the taste buds - the appetizer “Bocconcini and Fig Salad,” the hot soup “Zappa Toscana,” the main course “Braised Beef Brisket Osso Buco Style,” and the dessert “Tea Amo.” Each dish was like a beautiful melody, conveying the endless joy and confidence of the teachers and students toward the future. The entire banquet was not only a feast for the senses but also a radiant banner, waving with a belief filled with anticipation for the unknown future.

Amazing Performance

The successful hosting of this Christmas banquet not only highlights the excellent teamwork and professional standards of FHTM students but also provides industry professionals with a deeper understanding of the diversity of the faculty’s curriculum. The faculty will continue to promote the deep integration of theory and practice, actively expand students' experiential learning, and strive to create teaching models that are more practical and meet the growing academic needs of students. FHTM will continue to strive to provide students with richer learning opportunities and bring more innovation and vitality to the entire industry.
