August 16, 2013, Professor Michael Hitchcock, Dean of Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management together with two other colleagues Assistant Professor Zhang Meng and Tang Juan paid an official visit to Shanghai Normal University. A warm welcome was received from the Vice President Prof. Kang Nian who is also the dean of Shanghai Institute of Tourism (SIT)and his colleagues. Founded in 1979, SIT was one of the institutions with longest history regarding the field of tourism management in mainland China, which ranks in the list of world famous tourism institutes with fairly advanced levels of teaching and research. During the meeting, academic and research background was introduced to each other. Potentials of further cooperation on joint effort in student exchange as well as academic exchange was fully explored and discussed. In the end of this meeting, both sides agreed to explore the possibility of signing an MOU to consolidate the cooperation. Prof. Hitchcock was sincerely invited by vice president of Shanghai Normal University to give a further academic seminar on their campus in a near future.
