Accounting program of Bachelor of Business and Administration (BBA) at School of Business of Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) was officially accredited by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) based in the UK when a Memorandum of Agreement was signed between the two parties on May 5th 2015.

The Agreement Signing Ceremony took place in Conference Room 301 Block A, MUST and representatives attending the ceremony include Mr. Andrew Harding, Managing Director of CIMA, Ms. Erica Chen, Market Director of CIMA Hong Kong, Ms. Vivian Fung, Marketing and Development Manager of CIMA Hong Kong, Professor Lin Zhijun, Dean of School of Business, Professor Pang Chuan, Vice Dean of School of Business, Associate Professor Liu Chengkun and Assistant Professor Zhang Zhuo, School of Business, MUST. On behalf of the two sides, Managing Director of CIMA Mr. Andrew Harding and Dean of School of Business, MUST Professor Lin Zhijun singed the Memorandum of Agreement.

The highlight of the agreement content is that 12 exam exemptions have been granted to MUST undergraduate accounting majors. When MUST undergraduate students of the Accounting Program having competed the required curricula in the first three years sit for CIMA Certification Exams, they are eligible for exemptions up to 12 courses (the exemption rate is the same as that of Accounting Concentration at Hong Kong University). The success of the accreditation and recognition by an internationally well-known, professional body in accounting is a testament to the quality of education offered at the Accounting Program of School of Business, MUST. It’s an important milestone in the development of the Accounting Specialization at School of Business, MUST. It will add distinction to and improve the professional image of both School of Business and MUST as a whole.

CIMA is the largest professional body for management accountants in the world and one of the founding members of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). Established in 1919, headquartered in London, CIMA has set up branches or offices in countries like Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Singapore, People’s Republic of China (Mainland and Hong Kong SAR respectively), etc.. The CIMA certification is a highly valued and widely recognized international qualification in management accounting, which provides an excellent career opportunity for those who have obtained it.
