MUST and Nanjing University of The Arts Signed Agreement to Co-build Macau Center

Nanjing University of The Arts and Macau University of Science and Technology held a ceremony for signing inter-university cooperation agreement in the administrative building of the University, which is adjacent to the Stone City near the Qinhuai River; the two parties confirmed to co-build the “Macau Center of the Nanjing University of The Arts”, which will become a new bridge that ties Macau and Nanjing and Macau University of Science and Technology and the Nanjing University of The Arts.

Deputy Chairman of the People’s Political Consultative Conference of the Jiangsu Province, Luo Yi Min, Member of the United Front Work Department of Nanjing, Tang Wen, Party Secretary of the Nanjing University of The Arts, Guan Xiang Qun, President Liu Wei Dong, Vice President He Xiao You, Vice President Xie Jian Ming, and representatives of MUST, including Vice President Tong Ka Lok, Professor Tong Long Jun, Associate Vice President Pang Chuan, and Executive Vice Dean Zhang Zhi Qing, attended the Signing Ceremony.

When addressing the Ceremony, President Guan Xiang Qun first gave an introduction to the history and development of the Nanjing University of The Arts, which was founded by Master Liu Hai Su, founding father of Chinese Painting Education, in 1912, followed by a note on the University’s current scale and progresses. He noted that situated at the main city of Nanjing, the University occupies 700 acres of land, with a gross occupancy area of more than 300, 000 km2; the University has a total of over 11,000 students, offers an intact system of programs, many of which have entered the Top 10 of China. The University has also made great achievements in serving the community.

President Guan Xiang Qun spoke highly of the fast-developing MUST, hoping that as the two universities engage in more cooperation, not only will the two universities be able to work out a unique path for university cooperation, but also the engagements could contribute to the development of the culture creative industry of the two cities.

Set up a platform to facilitate “industry-education-research” cooperation

Vice President Tong Ka Lok noted that as Macau is currently exploring for a path of diversified development of economy and has made the culture creative industry one of the priorities for development, which coincides with the fact that the mainland of China is also working on a cultural rejuvenation and construction of the culture industry. At such a golden timing for cultural and art development, for Nan University of The Arts and Macau University of Science and Technology to take the opportunity to co-build the “Macau Center of Nanjing University of The Arts”, it has strong reality-based operationality and far-reaching historical significances. It is hoped that the signing of the agreement will take the cooperation between the two universities and two cities to a greater level, and that this cooperation platform will bring the “industry-education-research” co-development to a more practical note.

Vice President Liu Wei Dong and Vice President Tong Ka Lok signed the Agreement, representing respectively the two universities, with the witness of Deputy Chairman Luo Yi Min.
