M.U.S.T. and Chinese Academy of Sciences Co-established the “Macau Environmental Sciences and Environmental Management Joint Laboratory”, Elevating Macau’s Capacity in Environmental Protection and Environmental Studies

Macau University of Science and Technology held the Signing Ceremony for the “Macau Environmental Sciences and Environmental Management Joint Laboratory”, co-established by M.U.S.T. and the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences (hereafter, the Center), Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereafter, the CAS), at N501 of the University on the morning of March 31, 2016. On behalf of the two parties, President of M.U.S.T., Chair Prof. Liu Liang, and Director Jiang Gui Bin of the Center signed the relevant documents. As such, the Macau Environmental Sciences and Environmental Management Joint Laboratory was officially launched.

Prof. Bai Chun Li, President of the CAS and Academician of the CAS, witnessed the signing ceremony, giving high recognitions and endorsement to the efforts of M.U.S.T. and the Center in co-establishing the Joint Laboratory. Other guests who have attended the Ceremony include Mr. An Jian Ji, Director of the Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan Office of the CAS, Mr. Xu Jun, (Deputy-Director-Level) Assistant of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau S.A.R., Chair Prof. Pang Su Seng, Vice President of M.U.S.T., and Prof. Wang Zhi Shi, Director of the Macau Environmental Research Institute.

The two parties reached unanimous agreement on jointly establishing the “Macau Environmental Sciences and Environmental Management Joint Laboratory” at M.U.S.T., aiming to jointly engage in scientific research on the Macau S.A.R. government’s environmental protection and sustainable development, cultivate the desirable talents for the relevant work, and provide high-quality services on environmental assessment and urban or ocean environmental protection, so as to stand in better alignment with the call for energy conservation and reduction of emissions featured by the Policy Address of the Macau S.A.R. government, contribute to the strategic goals of building resource-oriented smart city, and provide reliable evidences and ideas for the relevant decision-making work.
