Mr. Xu Ze gave a lecture on “Understand the Advantage of ‘One Country, Two Systems’; Promote the Diversified Development of Macau’s Economy”

Mr. Xu Ze, former vice director of Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR, and Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office of the State Council, visited Macau University of Science and Technology. He was warmly received by MUST principal officers including Vice President Chair Prof. Pang Su Seng, Vice President Dr. Tong Ka Lok, Vice President Prof. Pang Chuan and Administrative Officer of President’s Office Mr. Kwong Ying Wa.

The vice presidents introduced to the visitors that MUST had always placed equal importance on education and research and now the school had become one of the top hundred youngest universities in the cross-strait region. In reply to Mr. Xu’s concern about the graduate’s employment, Dr. Tong said that the school had a high rate of graduate’s employment and there were also a large number of students starting their own business after graduation.

After the meeting, Mr. Xu gave a lecture to MUST teachers and students on “Understand the Advantage of ‘One Country, Two Systems’; Promote the Diversified Development of Macau’s Economy” at N221. After a brief introduction of President Xi Jin Ping’s four expectations to Macau government – work hard, organize with plans, stabilize the foundation and strive for the future, Mr. Xu added that for Macau’s prosperity the government should set up a reasonable and long-term development plan with a national and international outlook

Mr. Xu’s speech was divided into four parts: the policy of “one country, two systems” is the strategy for achieving socialism with Chinese characteristics; complying with the constitution and basic laws is the key to carry out the policy of “one country, two systems”; the characteristics of the system in special administrative region”; and diversified economic development in Macau should be promoted to refresh the old city. There was an animated discussion between Mr. Xu and the audience during the speech.

The guests who attended the lecture included Vice President Pang Su Seng, Vice President Pang Chuan and Mr. Xu’s secretary Mr. Liu Wei.
