Masters of Manchu Han Imperial Feast demonstrate at M.U.S.T.

The “Manchu Han Imperial Feast Reproduce at M.U.S.T.” was held on November 30th, 2018 in the Culinary Lab of Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) at Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.) At the event, celebrity chefs including Master Qi Jinzhu, the Chinese Imperial Feast Master, the third generation of the Royal Manchu Feast; Mr. Lin Zhenguo, Chairman of the Macau Cuisine Association; and Mr. Yin Dagang, Chief Consultant of China Cuisine Consultant Co., Ltd. and Chinese Food Culture Master. Master Qi shared his technical and cultural ideas with teachers and students of FHTM, learning about the Chinese food culture and the essence of cooking.

After the welcoming speech by Ms. Chu Oi Mei, FHTM Vice Dean, Master Qi presented Manchu Han Imperial Feast to FHTM. Master Qi then joined with Mr. Lin and Mr. Yin in the cooking demonstration. The celebrity chefs introduced some typical ingredients used in traditional Chinese cuisine, and demonstrated one of the famous Manchu delicacies “hong mei pearl incense” by using fresh prawns, to the students and teachers who attended the event. The students were intrigued both by the technique and the special ingredients used in the feast. They were excited as it was a great experience encountering and said that they would like to learn from the grandmasters to carry forward the traditional Chinese cuisine. By participating in this event, students broadened their knowledge and view on traditional Chinese culture.
