M.U.S.T. Management Visits National Ministry of Education
Minister Chen Wishes the University Worldwide Fame
Chancellor Liu Chak Wan and President Liu Liang of Macau University of Science and Technology led the University management on a visit to the National Ministry of Education on March 11, 2019. The delegation, accompanied by Deputy Director Gou Renmin of the Department of Education and Youth Affairs of the Central Liaison Office, were welcomed by Minister Chen Baosheng in person. Other key officials in the Ministry, including Director Wang Hui of the Department of College Students Affairs, Director Tan Fangzheng of the Department of Social Sciences, and Standing Deputy Director Xu Yongji and Deputy Director Tian Lulu of the Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs, also joined in the reception meeting.

Chancellor Liu Chak Wan gave Minister Chen an introduction to the educational philosophies of M.U.S.T., and expressed wishes for M.U.S.T. to make contributions to the adequately diversified development of Macao economy and of the Greater Bay Area. President Liu Liang reported to Minister Chen the accomplishments made by the University in recent years. He noted that the University has carried out a full-scale implementation of the important instructions by Chairman Xi Jinping to Macao higher institutions, persisted in training students with patriotic awareness, committed to a development path that is based on quality and innovation, aligned closely with the emerging demands by the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area for talents and adjusted its program structure and developed new programs accordingly, consolidated the construction of the research partner bases of the key research institutes of Ministry of Education, formulated new high-standard platforms for technological innovation and development of characteristic science and technology and extraordinary research areas, fostered a harmonious campus that facilitates students’ all-round development, and deepened interactions and cooperation with mainland universities, in hope of integrating into the bigger picture for national development strategies, such as the Greater Bay Area development.
Minister Chen expressed warm welcome to the M.U.S.T. delegationg, stating he was delighted to learn the great accomplishments by the University in 2018. He commented that such great achievements did not just pertain to M.U.S.T., they were also part of the joint achievements of the national educational cause, and that he was as proud as the University is for its successes.

The minister expressed wishes that M.U.S.T. drew on its outstanding achievements in 2018, and achieved greater successes in 2019. He also hoped that having grown up in Macao, and at 19 years old, the University is ready to stretch its wings in the Greater Bay, and that it may one day grow to become a well-known university across the world.
Other university management members joining the visit were Vice President Tong Ka Lok, Vice President Jiang Zhihong, Vice President Pang Chuan, Vice President Lin Zhijun, University Council Member Chen Jimin and Associate Vice President Kwong Ying Wa.
