Joint Meeting of the M.U.S.T. Foundation Board of Trustees and the University Council

Macau University of Science and Technology held a joint meeting of the Board of Trustees of the M.U.S.T. Foundation and the University Council on June 8; about 50 board members and council members attended the meeting.

The joint meeting was chaired by Dr. Chui Sai Cheong, Chairman of the M.U.S.T. Foundation Board of Trustees, where President Liu Liang presented a summary report for work of the University in the past academic year and a work plan for the 2019/2020 academic year. The President highlighted the fact that M.U.S.T. was ranked consecutively among the Top 30 Universities, and landed in the 21st place in the “2018 Ranking of Top Universities in Greater China” released by the Center for World-Class Universities at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai Ranking), joining the rank of the Top 100 Universities for 8 straight years, and rising to higher places on a yearly basis, which testifies to the growing significances of the University both in overall educational strengths and in academic impact nationally and internationally. Chairman Zhou Ligao of the University Council gave a report on the work of the Executive Committee of the University Council in the 2018/2019 academic year. He stressed that the role of the Executive Committee was to serve as a gatekeeper for the University in important matters, and all the committee members have shown tremendous enthusiasm and commitment to their duties.

Vice President Tong Ka Lok followed to present a report on the financial status of the 2018/2019 academic year to the board members and council members, where he explained the operational status of various funds and grants.

Afterwards, Mr. Tsui Wai Kwan, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the M.U.S.T. Foundation, briefed the committee on its financial status, concluding that the Foundation is financially sound and its reserve is sufficient to support future developments.

Dr. Liu Chak Wan, Chairman of the Administrative Committee of the M.U.S.T. Foundation, reported that with the continuous development of the University, the Foundation has undertaken further planning over the university campus. A new multi-functional teaching complex will be completed in the autumn of 2019, where the ground floor would house a multi-purpose ballroom and a cinema for experiential teaching, providing multi-dimensional facilities and conditions for teaching and internship at the University.
