M.U.S.T. publishes Brazil Investment Environment Report

The year of 2019 is the 20th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland China. It is also the time when the Macao S.A.R. and the motherland are marching towards a new era and ushering in unprecedented opportunities for development. The research team from the School of Business, Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.), yielded the second work of the Portuguese Speaking Countries Investment Environment Research Series: Brazil Investment Environment Report, which was published by the Economic Science Press and funded by the Macao Tertiary Education Services Office. The report makes contribution to the understanding and grasping the positioning of Macao in the country’s reform and opening up of the new era, participation in the country’s strategic deployment for deepening reform and opening up, integration into the overall national development, and response to and deepening of Macao government’s construction of the China-Portugal Platform and the Training Base of Promoting Macao’s Portuguese Language Talent in Asia-Pacific Region, enabling the functioning of Macao as a China-Portugal platform for talent development, intellectual support and counseling.

Till 2018, China had becoming Brazil’s largest trading partner up to ten years, and Brazil had become China’s eighth largest trading partner. China and Brazil possess huge market potential whose economies are highly complementary, but with a fact of matter that Brazil’s trade and investment environment is quite different from that of China. Therefore, this report offers valuable introduction and analysis on Brazil’s overall investment and industrial development status, political and economic situation, and market environment. In particular, it analyses the current popular investment in Brazil, including financial technology, e-commerce, and banking. It provides strategic suggestions on the difficult issues, such as taxation, labour, and employment in the investment of Brazil, as well as the participation of Macao enterprises in the construction of the China-Portugal Platform. In conjunction with the research purpose of supporting Macao as a service platform for Sino-Portuguese business cooperation, the report also includes the Brazil in the online database of the Portuguese Speaking Countries Investment Environment Database (PLPIDB), which organises comprehensive and latest update on Portuguese speaking countries’ business environment and relevant information.
