M.U.S.T. Holds Fall 2019 Internship & Career Fair

Macau University of Science and Technology successfully held the Fall 2019 Internship & Career Fair earlier, which has drawn over one hundred firms and companies from Zhuhai, Hong Kong and Macao. Guests who officiated the event include Vice President Lin Zhijun, Vice President Pang Chuan, and Vice President Kwong Ying Wa of Macau University of Science and Technology, Mr. Zeng Yaxing, Vice Director of Zhuhai Human Resources Employment Service Center at Zhuhai Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, Prof. Zhang Du, Dean of Faculty of Information Technology, Prof. Goh Kok Beng, Dean of Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management, and Prof. Zhang Zhiqing, Dean of Faculty of Humanities and Arts. The M.U.S.T. management presented souvenirs, which are designed by the university’s own graduated students, to representatives of the more than one hundred participating firms.

Since 2017, the M.U.S.T. Fall Internship & Career Fair has become an annual event. For three consecutive years, the Center for Entrepreneurship and Career Planning has been joining forces with Faculty of Information Technology, School of Business, Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management and Faculty of Humanities and Arts in organizing the Fair. The participating firms at the Fair cover a wide range of industries and business, including accounting, advertisement, art, banking, comprehensive integrated services, design, education, food and drinks, gaming, public organizations, tourism, information technology and telecommunications, insurances and investment, media and convention, and has provided approximately 2,000 job vacancies and internship opportunities. Among the participating firms, there were more than 30 firms from Zhuhai; there were also a number of career and internship talks held during the Fair, including a talk titled “New Policies and Development Environment for Talents in Zhuhai” by Zhuhai Human Resources and Social Security Bureau and a talk titled “New Land for Innovation and Entrepreneurship – Nansha, Guangzhou” by Guangzhou Nansha District Youth Federation.

Vice President Lin Zhijun delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. He noted that M.U.S.T. has been taking as its mission to nurture intellectual growth, develop high-quality education and extraordinary research, and contribute forces to Macao’s economic development and societal progress. With the support from the Central People’s Government and the Macao S.A.R. Government, through the hard work of generations of MUSTers, the University has become the largest-scale comprehensive university in Macao. Earlier on September 11th, the United Kingdom’s Times Higher Education published the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2020, where Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.) made to the list for the first time and was ranked among the top 251-300. This not only marked that the University has officially joined the rank of the Top 300 world universities, but also demonstrated the substantial progress made by Macao in the higher education sector over the past 20 years since it returned to the motherland.

This year, M.U.S.T. will be generating about 2,000 undergraduates and 1,300 postgraduates to graduate from the University and join the work force and make their contributions for society. The University hopes that the students seize opportunities, and stay proactive to participate in various events to train their professional skills and improve their overall competitiveness and employability, and therefore help them to make thorough preparations for expanding their careers, fulfilling their dreams and servicing the community.
