M.U.S.T. Welcomes New Faculty Members to Join the Family
Bringing in Outstanding Talents to Boost the International Profile of the Faculty Team

Macao University of Science and Technology held a series of orientation activities to welcome about 50 new faculty members to join the M.U.S.T. family for the 2020/2021 academic year. Several briefing sessions and workshops were conducted by various departments from August 28th to September 1st, 2020, and on September 17, the University held the Senior Management’s Briefing and President’s Welcome Reception, where the management met with new faculty members. President Liu Liang, Vice President Tong Ka Lok, Vice President Jiang Zhihong, Vice President Pang Chuan, Vice President Lin Zhijun, Vice President Kwong Ying Wa, Vice President So Jacky Yuk Chow, and Associate Vice President Sun Jianrong, joined by the deans/directors of the faculties/institutes and the departmental heads of the administrative unit, attended the event.

The orientation consists of rich activities, including various briefing sessions and workshops conducted by different functional units. It covered a list of comprehensive topics including functional areas of different units, rules and regulations, resources and facilities, library and information technology services, and the legal system in Macao. The senior management’s briefing and president’s welcome reception help new faculty members to familiarize with the University’s organizational structure, educational purposes, mission and vision of the University, teaching and research as well as the development of the University and disseminate the MUSTers’ spirit among the newcomers.

During the Senior Management’s Briefing and President’s Welcome Reception, President Liu Liang gave a broad introduction to the development of the University. Over the years, M.U.S.T. has put great effort into bringing in outstanding talents from home and abroad to boost the international profile of its faculty team. This has provided great impetuses for the growth of high-quality education and extraordinary research at the University.

To recognize and appreciate the outstanding performance of teachers and researchers, award presentation of four university awards, namely the BOC Excellence Research Award 2019/2020, the LIB Academic Research Award 2019/2020, the Teaching Excellence Award 2019/2020, and the Teaching Achievement Award 2019/2020 was carried out at the President’s Welcome Reception. Awards were conferred to winners by Director Chen Fen from Bank of China Macau Branch, Deputy General Manager Richard Vu from Luso International Banking Limited, President Liu Liang, and Vice President Lin Zhijun respectively.

The orientation activities not only allow the newcomers to understand M.U.S.T. for better adapting to the new working environment but also enhance the bond between staff to build a good foundation for the development of a harmonious campus culture and creation of a high-quality teaching and research environment.
