In order to provide new research directions and research perspectives to the teachers and students, The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) of Macau University of Science and Technology held the “2021 Summer Academic Week” on July 22, 2021. FHTM invited Professor Soo Cheong (Shawn) Jang, professor of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Purdue University, USA to give a talk entitled "An Interdisciplinary Approach to New Research Ideas" via Zoom meeting. FHTM teachers and graduate students, including Professor Ben K. Goh, Dean of the FHTM and Associate Professor Zhang Yang attended the lecture. This lecture was sponsored by the Macau Foundation.
Professor Soo Cheong Jang
Professor Soo Cheong (Shawn) Jang has published more than 200 papers in top-tier refereed journals. Professor Jang shared his research experience in interdisciplinary study. He advocated that an open mind, scholarly curiosity, and creativity are necessary conditions for interdisciplinary study. Professor Jang encouraged students to keep their eyes, ears, and minds open, and constantly search and think while doing research. After the speech, he kindly answered questions from students and teachers.
