Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management of M.U.S.T. and MGM Talent Development Partnership Launch Ceremony & Seminar on Mastering Hospitality

In line with The Culture and Tourism Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area’s on nurturing tourism talent in the area, as well as Macau SAR’s "Tourism Plus" strategy, the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management of Macau University of Science and Technology and MGM co-organized the "Talent Development Partnership for Tourism+ Launch Ceremony & Seminar on Mastering Hospitality" on December 7, 2021 at MGM COTAI. The event was supported by Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Macao Special Administrative Region, Education and Youth Development Bureau and Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau.

At the welcome speech, President of Macau University of Science and Technology, Chair Prof. Joseph Hun-wei LEE shared that M.U.S.T. has made great strides and has been recognized for its focus on cutting edge, innovative education and research. In new strategic plan, he indicated that the university is actively promoting internationalization, diversity and academic excellence. He hoped that this partnership with MGM can contribute to develop Macao into a talent cultivation base for tourism and hospitality in the Greater Bay Area. Senior Vice President of Hospitality of MGM, Dr. Iwan Dietschi mentioned that M.U.S.T. has been growing rapidly with the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) ranked top in Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. In collaboration with FHTM of M.U.S.T., can further unlock the potentials in MGM team members as well as local talents, enabling them to support Macau’s Tourism+ strategy.

Right after the ceremony, the first seminar of the newly signed Partnership on “Mastering Hospitality” was held with Dr. Iwan Dietschi, MGM Senior Vice President of Hospitality as speaker. Dr. Dietschi shared his nearly 30 years experience in luxury hotel management with the aim to inspire the students and participants to think about how to contribute to Macao’s diversified development through high-quality hospitality services.
