Graduate of Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (M.U.S.T.) Was Admitted to the University of Cambridge and Other Prestigious Overseas Universities

Zhao Chenyu, a graduate of the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM), is matriculated to pursue postgraduate studies in the world’s top universities including the University of Cambridge, University College London (UCL), Durham University, University of Birmingham, and University of Southampton.

Zhao Chenyu, 1809 Bachelor of International Tourism Management (BITM), has excelled in her undergraduate studies, being awarded on the Dean's Honour List every academic year. She has a wide range of hobbies and interests, with a rich extra-curricular life as an erhu player in the school's Chinese Orchestra. She has now been accepted to study for an MPhil in Heritage Studies at the University of Cambridge.

Zhao Chenyu appreciated the support from all FHTM professors and staff, who encouraged her every idea and opinion, and embraced and improved her weaknesses. Zhao Chenyu sincerely appreciated Professor Zhang Su’s efforts in providing her with valuable advice and experience for future academic endeavors, so that she could start preparing from her sophomore year for her postgraduate studies with a clear goal.

The greatest challenge Zhao Chenyu encountered in the application process to the University of Cambridge was her lack of experience in publishing papers and academic achievements. Therefore, in the first semester of the third year, Zhao Chenyu read through scholarly papers, actively consulted and discussed with the professor to work on her thesis, and finally presented her work and academic posters at an international conference. Zhao Chenyu particularly appreciated Professor Zhang Yang’s attitude of patiently guiding her through the process of completing the initial independent research to meet academic requirements and standards.

Zhao Chenyu cherished the four years she spent studying and living at M.U.S.T. The atmosphere and encouragement equip her to further develop and improve her critical thinking and independent learning abilities, allowing her to seize a variety of valuable opportunities through her efforts. Zhao Chenyu expressed that she would remain bold and determined, passionate and enthusiastic, and with the deep belief that she can be whoever she wants to be.
