MUST academic staff publishes in leading journal of tourism research

On the date of the thirteenth anniversary of Macau University of Science and Technology (March 27, 2013), Assistant Professor Dr. Libo Yan of Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management, had a paper accepted for publication in Annals of Tourism Research, a leading journal of tourism research. He is the first author of the paper, with Professor Bob McKercher (Hong Kong Polytechnic University) being the second author. The publication turns out to be one of a series of breakthroughs occurred at the Faculty under the leadership of Dean Professor Michael Hitchcock and Assistant Dean Dr. Lai Ka-Wai.

The paper studied travel culture in Eastern Jin China (AD 317-420). Specifically, it answered the questions why and how a travel culture of landscape appreciation was formed in the fourth century AD China, 15 centuries earlier than in the Western societies. The research output significantly contributed to the intellectual society’s understanding of the origins of nature tourism.

As President of MUST ,Chair Professor Liu Liang said , Dr. Libo Yan's research papers are accepted by the authority in the field of international tourism research journals shows that MUST has reached international standards in this field of research and has great potential for research and development. He felt quite pleased and delighted about the enhance of MUST level of research, and hope to the colleagues continue its efforts more outstanding achievements and contribute to the community.
